The lavish, 21,000-square foot mansion belonging to late Los Angeles businessman Norbert Gehr has hit the market for nearly $40 million.

Gehr, a Brazilian immigrant, turned a modest distribution company into multinational holding company The Gehr Group, which now deals in real estate, hospitality, manufacturing and international trade. The company owns two hotels in Times Square, including the Four Points hotel, which offers Manhattan’s highest rooftop lounge, the Sky Room.

Gehr died in 2015 at the age of 74 after suffering from leukemia, according his company’s website.

Before his death, the entrepreneur lived in a Beverly Hills estate, dubbed Maison 613 after the street address, replete with an array of recreational amenities. The house has an in-home theater, two-lane bowling alley, indoor basketball court, beauty salon and gym, according to the listing with Jeff Hyland, president of Hilton & Hyland.

The home, built in 1921, is located on one of the deepest lots in a swanky Beverly Hills alcove called the "Golden Flats," and has eight bedrooms, 15 bathrooms and a private guest house, according to the listing.

The master suite includes its own outdoor spa. And for guests, there’s a spa and a swimming pool in the backyard, which is landscaped with multiple fountains, glowing statuary and a reflection pool.

Gehr and his wife, Jane Gehr, bought the property from a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon for a mere $3.4 million in 1998, property records show.

Over-the-top Classical-style architecture fills the interior, too. The house opens into a double-height foyer with sweeping staircases and rows of columns, images of the property show. The home has several imported fire places and a freight elevator.

Mr. Hyland did not immediately return a request for comment.
