What makes this property unique is the private dock, which is, "very rare," for the area, said Rupert Lawson Johnston, the head of Strutt & Parker in Chichester, in a statement.

"Wharf House offers an exceptional opportunity to own a truly unique property in a prime position in a thriving sailing community," Mr. Johnston said.

The dock has space for a 45-foot boat and open access to the Emsworth Channel leading to Chichester Harbor. Wharf House is a Grade II home, meaning it is of special architectural and historical interest to the U.K. government.

The property is spread over four floors and provides about 5,300 square feet of living space. It is a "very impressive and majestic-looking building," Mr. Johnston said.

The owners purchased the home for £2 million (US$2.62 million), according to property records. The year they bought it couldn’t be determined.

The interior of Wharf House is grandiose and antique in style, but natural light floods nearly every room in the house, according to the listing. All the rooms are well proportioned and have views of the pristine garden and calming harbor waters. Other highlights of the property include a flower-covered pergola, outside terrace, orangery and a cellar, according to the listing.

The house sits on almost an acre of land and has views of the harbor and the gardens, which were designed by John Brookes, an internationally known landscape designer.

Emsworth is in Hampshire, an area in the south of England with picturesque beaches throughout.

"There are miles of sandy beaches nearby perfect for the kids at West Wittering, and the Chichester Harbour Conservancy ensures that the character of the area is preserved as a haven for wildlife," Mr. Johnston said. "The area is a sailing hub for buyers locally, nationally and internationally―even the odd celebrity, too.’"
