Location: Sentosa Island, Singapore

Price: S$48 million (US$34.23 million)

Put your pennies into the Copper House, a holiday home built in 2012 on Sentosa Island, a resort in Singapore. The seaside home offers about 9,500 square feet of living space, including a private roof deck with views of the water for "entertaining friends and business partners," according to Samuel Eyo, managing director of Singapore Christie’s International Real Estate, the listing agent.

The Copper House also has more than 130 feet of water frontage; the public spaces—like the dining and living rooms—are on the second floor to maximize views. The home is built around a courtyard to allow for more light, and a ramp lets both residents and guests access the teak roof deck from the second floor.

The bedrooms are on the first floor, and open up onto the pool area. Each of the six bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom, and are accessible by a separate entrance, allowing for privacy even during a highly attended function.

Stats

There are six bedrooms and seven bathrooms in this house, which is on an 18,000-square-foot lot.

Amenities

Mr. Eyo said the current owner has often brought celebrity chefs to the house to cook for guests, making use of the home’s wet kitchen, where the real cooking is done. A dry kitchen, used for serving, is attached to the dining room. Designed by the German company Bulthaup, the wet kitchen has a large cold room for perishable items. The house also has a wine cellar that can hold around 2,000 vintages.

A gym, massage room and sauna are on the ground floor, and underneath the house there is a six-car garage. The landscaped courtyard also features a putting green.

Design pedigree

During construction, the owner consulted a feng shui master who suggested a warm color scheme and the use of metal. Hence the copper facade, which is made from perforated sheets to let light in and which will develop a greenish patina as the home ages. A warm, honey-colored onyx was used throughout the second floor, as well as in all the bathrooms.

A solid oak stairway surrounds the copper-colored elevator, which has been cut to resemble a gemstone.

Nicknamed "Asia’s Favorite Playground," the island features beaches, golf course and multiple amusement parks, including Universal Studios Singapore. The home is located in Sentosa Cove, an elite residential area of the island with many other extravagant homes.

Sentosa is about a third of a mile from Singapore and accessible by gondola, monorail, car, bus or by walking over the Sentosa Boardwalk.
