In this "mini village," the Dorrance family,  of Campbell’s Soup Company fame, raised their children. It’s also where Robert Burch, a venture capitalist and former brother-in-law of fashion designer Tory Burch, who’s owned the expansive property since 1992, raised his children.

"They have treasured the comfortable and casual country lifestyle that it has provided for their family and friends through the years," said listing agent Lisa Yakulis of Kurfiss Sotheby’s International Realty.

Dubbed Linden Hill, the 50-plus-acre property features a French Norman-style main residence and several guesthouses and staff quarters, surrounded by courtyards, pastures, gardens and pools.

The Burch family first put the property on the market for $24.5 million in 2013 and cut the price to $19.5 million in May 2015. "It typically takes time to find the right buyer who is seeking an estate compound on this grand scale," said Ms. Yakulis.

The Stats

The manor, encompassing 14,467 square feet, has eight bedrooms, eight-and-a-half bathrooms, a formal living room, a dining room and a media room. The interiors have been updated with hand-carved English paneling and English oak floors while keeping the original details. There are eight ornate fireplaces throughout the residence, including one in the master suite.

There are two pools, a pool house, a tennis court and an aviary on the property.

Design Pedigree

The house was designed by Edmund B. Gilchrist, who was famous for French-Norman suburban houses, and built for stockbroker Rodman Ellison Griscom in 1931. The property was then owned by the Dorrance family for more than 50 years.

The property was once featured in Architectural Digest.
