Location: London, England

Price: £3.85 million (US$4.9 million)

When rock musician and producer Dave Stewart lived in this four-bedroom flat in Covent Garden in the late 1990s and early 2000s, it was at the epicenter of the London creative scene.

Stewart is best known as the co-founder of the Eurythmics with Annie Lenox, whose hits included the iconic "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)."

In Stewart’s day, the current reception room of the duplex penthouse was a rollicking studio, with many songs written and recorded by famous guests like Gwen Stefani, Sinead O’Connor and Joe Strummer of The Clash, according to Tavistock Bow, the real estate brokerage handling the sale.

This is the first time in more than a decade that the flat has been on the market. The apartment, which is on the fourth and fifth floors, has three very private terraces with terrific views of the West End.

"It’s the terraces that really make it so unique," said Hannah Read of Tavistock Bow.

"You’ve got a huge amount of terrace space, which is really rare in this area," she said. "The current owners have decked them out with lots of different areas–architectural grasses, planters and decks."

The Fielding Court apartment overlooks the iconic Seven Dials, a junction that joins seven roads in Covent Garden, and is surrounded by restaurants, theaters, shops and independent boutiques.

"You’ve got amazing views down into the Seven Dials roundabout," Ms. Read said. "You’re up high looking down on everything, on the hustle and bustle down there."

The main living space is on the fifth floor, accessed via a modern staircase within the glass atrium at the front of the building.

The open galley-style Leicht kitchen features stainless steel worktops and a mixture of high-end Gaggenau and Neff appliances. The walls of the master bedroom suite are partially upholstered in leather.

The former recording studio has been transformed into a bright reception room on the fifth floor with access to another rooftop terrace.

The Stats

The two-level, 2,185-square-foot penthouse has four bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a powder room.

Amenities

Along with all of the outdoor terrace space, there is a wooden sauna tucked into the master bedroom. Ms. Read said it dates back to Mr. Stewart’s ownership.

Celebrity Cachet

This is a pretty swell list of A-list celebs who were hosted by Stewart at the flat: Lou Reed, Gwen Stefani, George Harrison, Jeff Koons, Robin Williams, close friend and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, Eric Idle, David Bowie, Demi Moore, Deepak Chopra, Paul Verhoeven, Sinead O'Connor, Sam Mendes, Helmut Newton, Jerry Hall and Damien Hirst, according to the brokerage.

Artist Damien Hirst was quoted as saying this about the property: "His flat in Covent Garden is brilliant. He did a party for me there. I love it. Insane. It's like Willy Wonka's factory in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He's just got all these hi-tech toys, and he's got homes all over the place," according to the listing.

Neighborhood Notes

"Seven Dials is a village-y area of Covent Garden," Ms. Read said. "There are lots of streets off the roundabout–all really nice streets with lovely boutiques. It’s a really buzzy area with lovely little places to eat and shop."
