Listing of the Day

Location: Boca Raton, Florida

Price: $5.89 million (new price)

This week we’re looking back on the Listings of the Day that garnered the most attention from our readers in 2017: An amenity-filled waterfront mansion in Florida, a British castle set on 32 acres, a Dubai villa with a nightclub, a 1940s home perched above Los Angeles and a grand Victorian estate on the shores of Rhode Island. Some have sold and some are still available.

First up: A flashy waterfront mansion in Boca Raton, Florida.

This waterfront mansion is for someone who has everything, but just needs a place to put it all. No. 5 in Mansion Global’s top five Listings of the Day in 2017, there’s plenty of room for everything from jet skis to Lamborghinis here.

The home first hit the market in February for $6.495 million, represented by the Chad Carroll Group. When it hadn’t sold by summer, the listing was removed; it reappeared at its new price in September, a discount of more than 9%.

"We’ve had a lot of interest, but the high price is the main factor in why it’s still on the market," said agent Matt Dugow from the Carroll Group. Luxury homes around the country have had to slash asking prices.

"This is a destination home," Mr. Dugow said. "Everyone comes to you."

And with 130 feet of dockage, there’s room for more than a few dinghys. The home also has 180 feet of waterfrontage, so "it’s easy to access the Intercoastal [Waterway],’ Mr. Dugow said.

Stats

With more than 6,600 square feet of living space, the home boasts six bedrooms—several with balconies overlooking the water—and seven-and-a-half bathrooms, plus ample space for outdoor entertaining.

Amenities

Built in 2004, the house was recently renovated and is fully decked out with amenities. That starts with the backyard waterfall and grotto Jacuzzi outside. The pool area leads to an outdoor kitchen and lounge.

The current owner is a car collector. "His cars are worth almost as much as the house," Mr. Dugow said. The wheels aren’t included in the deal but a six-car garage with hydraulic lifts is.

There’s a game room, a home movie theater and a wood-paneled library, plus a chef’s kitchen. It’s also a fully automated smart home, and features a private gate, an elevator and gas fireplace.

High-end finishes like onyx, jerusalem stone, marble and wood-flooring can be found throughout the home.

Although the current owner has set the home up as a sort of ultimate bachelor pad, Mr. Dugow stressed it wasn’t just for the fellows. "It could easily transition to suit a couple or a family," he said, adding that it’s a dream spot for anyone who loves the water.
