August was a hot month for swimming pools. The future residents of a luxury building in South West London will be able to swim to their neighbors' apartments, thanks to a suspended pool that will link two towers at the 10th floor. The 82-foot-long, fully transparent “sky pool” will be part of Embassy Gardens, a new residential development coming to the neighborhood of Nine Elms on the South Bank. Less than 8 inches of glass will separate swimmers from the streets below. “The experience of the pool will be truly unique,” said Sean Mulryan, the Chairman and CEO of the developer Ballymore Group, in a press release. “It will feel like floating through the air in central London.” After their swim, sunbathers can relax on the ‘sky deck,’ which will include a spa, a bar and a greenhouse full of orange trees.

In other pool news, the Dubai-based developer Meydan Sobha is launching a neighborhood of ‘beachfront’ mansions, which will surround a roughly four-mile-long pool called a ‘Crystal Lagoon.’ The lagoon will be the biggest man-made pool in the world, according to the developer. The neighborhood, known as The Mansions at District One, will be located in the forthcoming Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City. The homes were released for sale at a London event earlier this month.
