Some good news for those looking to invest in Brooklyn: Developers are planning to build thousands of new rental and condominium units across the borough, according to a report from New York-based real estate website CityRealty. Here are a few of the report’s highlights: • About 22,000 apartments will be built in Brooklyn through 2019. Of these units, 2,700 are scheduled for completion this year, with this figure nearly doubling in 2016. • The majority of construction will take place in Downtown Brooklyn, which is slated to receive 6,400 apartments, and in Williamsburg, where 4,300 new residences are underway. Large-scale development projects in Greenpoint and Prospect Heights are also in the works. • Many of the buildings will stand at least 10 stories tall, which could alter the borough’s skyline. The report, which can be downloaded here, includes renderings of what the skyline might look like when construction is complete. CityRealty based its projections on projects that were announced by developers. Only new development projects with 20 or more units planned were considered in the report.
