A waterfront mansion on Australia’s Gold Coast is poised to break a local record if it fetches the asking price of A$30 million (US$24 million).

At that amount, the seven-bedroom estate would beat by a hair the record set in 2008: an unfinished Gold Coast mansion that reportedly sold to computer whizz Daniel Tzvetkoff for A$27 million (US$21.6 million).

The potential record setter is the home of German super yacht builder Klaus Lilischkies and his wife, Leigh, according to Queensland property records. The couple bought the property in 1997, records show, and later built the mammoth contemporary home in 2001.

It’s the first time Mr. Lilischkie’s home, dubbed "Chateau De Reves," has been available for sale. It’s located on the Sovereign Islands with more than 275 feet of water frontage and views over the Coral Sea and the rest of the Gold Coast.

The home spans over 43,000 square feet and took two years to complete, according to the listing with brokers Paul Arthur and Vivian Yu of Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty.

The home came on the market last week and has been met "with a massive amount of interest so far," according to the brokerage.

Aside from seven en-suite bedrooms, the house has two studies, two kitchens, separate staff quarters, a pool, tennis court and private dock.

Thanks to the influence of its owners, the home incorporated finishes from around the world. It has colorful Venetian Murano glass, a balustrade also imported from Italy and Botticino marble floors, according to the listing.

The owners even detailed the pool in 24-carat gold tiling, and installed an elevator.
