British comedic actor Matt Lucas has turned a pretty profit off a Los Angeles villa he purchased in 2011.

Mr. Lucas, 43, who created and starred in the popular BBC sketch show "Little Britain," sold the four-bedroom hacienda for $4.96 million, or 71% more than he paid six years ago. He made his first home purchase in the U.S. at the depths of the country’s housing collapse, buying the secluded property with a pool and guest house for $2.9 million, according to property records.

At one point, the actor shared the home with Australian comedic actress Rebel Wilson. But the "Pitch Perfect" star eventually moved out to buy her own place in Los Angeles and now owns quite the inventory of U.S. homes. Ms. Wilson, 37, recently snapped up a luxury condo in the A-list hub 443 Greenwich in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood for nearly $3 million.

Mr. Lucas’s 3,840-square-foot California villa sits behind a tall hedge and has a gated entry for optimum privacy. Inside, there’s an open kitchen and dining room with a fireplace, a library, office and guest suite, according to the listing with Delphine Mann of Coldwell Banker.

Aaron Leider of Keller Williams represented the buyer in the sale. Public property records do not yet show who bought Mr. Lucas’s house.

Property images show the actor filled the Spanish-style home with a glossy white piano, sangria-colored velvet dining chairs and a walk-in closet decked out in Arsenal Football Club paraphernalia. The house has a home theater decorated in crimson, outdoor dining and a separate two-story guest house.

The backyard is wrapped in tall hedges and landscaping that encompass an oxygenated lagoon pool and spa, a fire pit and patio spaces overlooking gardens and the home’s ivy-covered exterior.

It took less than a month for Mr. Lucas to find a buyer for the home, which he put on the market in May and which went into contract in early June, according to listing records.

A publicist for Mr. Lucas said he was not available for comment.
