A $55 million beachfront mansion has hit the market in Southampton, making it one of the most expensive homes currently for sale in the posh area, which has long been a popular haunt of celebrities and wealthy Wall Street-types.

The eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom home on Barons Lane in the village of Southampton sits on 4.5 acres and boasts 360-degree views of the ocean, farm fields and ponds.

Designed by Eric Woodward, and built by Harold Reeves & Sons, the 8,225-square-foot shingle-style property has large picture windows, broad ocean-facing decks, a patio and large heated Gunite pool, according to the listing posted Monday.

PropertyShark’s records show that the current owner is Barons Lane LLC, which paid $19 million for it in 2004. The previous owner was Roone Arledge, the former president of both ABC Sports and ABC News, who passed away in 2002.

However, while it is one of the top-10 most expensive estates for sale in Southampton, it is far from the priciest. According to Zillow, that title goes to a $145 million compound on Gin Lane, which includes two large houses.
