"Hamilton" fans, take note: A new Manhattan listing will allow you to be in "the room where it happened." Well, sort of.
A historic West Village property hit the market on Monday that once belonged to Aaron Burr — Revolutionary War figure, third vice president of the United States, and infamous Alexander Hamilton adversary.
The 2,200-square-foot Federal-style home at 17 Commerce Street is listed for $5.75 million, which — according to Bernice Leventhal of Corcoran, who is co-listing the home with Sarah Thompson — is a boon for buyers, who will be getting "a townhouse in the West Village for the price of a condo."

In addition to the "Hamilton" connection, the three-bedroom single-family house is packed with authentic charm ("original details, light, an enchanting private backyard, says Leventhal) and is situated on one of the New York City’s most desirable streets. The current owner — who bought the house in 2013 for $4.48 million — put in "a lot of time and money to get plans approved by [the city's landmarks commission]," Leventhal says, which means headaches typically associated with renovating in New York have been taken care of.
Burr isn’t believed to have actually lived in the residence at 17 Commerce St., but the original home was built on land that he owned just north of his country estate, called Richmond Hill, around Bedford and Downing streets, according to The New York Post.
As for whether the mania surrounding Lin-Manuel Miranda's smash Broadway hit could contribute to the property's interest, Thompson says it's a given. "Because of the incredible musical many more people have an awareness and appreciation of the people and history of that period in time which I think creates more desirability for a house like this."
