The real star of the episode of HBO’s "Girls" in which Lena Dunham’s character has a weekend-long date with a handsome doctor is not Ms. Dunham or her co-star, Patrick Wilson. It’s the beautiful townhouse it all takes place in, which happens to have just hit the market, for $5.6 million.

The five-story, seven-bedroom house at 52 South Oxford St. in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, was built in 1908. Its current owner, actor Billy Morrissette, who appeared in the first season of "Girls," has paid homage to its history with steel chandeliers (reminiscent of the Industrial Revolution), and by restoring original detailing.

"He let the original beauty of the place shine through," says Amy Wendling of Douglas Elliman, who’s handling the sale.

When Mr. Morrissette bought the house in 2009, it was a derelict single room occupancy building. Following its full renovation and restoration, it took a star turn on "Girls," and since then has been featured in a print advertisement for Ralph Lauren, an episode of Hulu’s "Difficult People" and in a commercial for "Saturday Night Live," says Ms. Wendling.

The 5,600-square-foot home is a magnet for location scouts because of its large, airy rooms and the attention that’s been paid to every detail, according to Ms. Wendling.

"Everyone who walks in, loves being there," she says. "As soon as you walk in, it’s home."
