Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown neighborhood is brimming with stately townhomes. But very few have floors with light inlays to highlight art on the walls, a garage with a car elevator, and a kitchen that opens onto a swimming pool.

This home is less than three blocks from the neighborhood epicenter of Wisconsin Avenue and M Street NW. Originally built in the 1960s, the renovating architects secured the necessary approvals to make structural changes to the home, which led to its $8 million renovation in the early 2010s.

"The original townhouse was gutted completely," said listing agent Russell Firestone of TTR Sotheby's International Realty. "It’s really just exterior walls that remain, and everything else is new."

The Stats

The 5,680-square-foot home has six bedrooms, four full bathrooms and two partial baths.

The master bathroom features a Boffi freestanding tub and a double waterfall rain shower.

Amenities

The three-car garage includes an elevator that can take a car from street level to the elevated motor court.

Mr. Firestone noted the home’s front door weighs approximately 1,000 pounds and pivots on a single head—so guests can open and close it with one finger. The door also features a smart-glass system that becomes translucent at the touch of a button.

Inside, a glass elevator services the home’s four floors. Additional perks include geothermal heating, heated floors, and a living area that opens straight onto the swimming pool.

"There are folding doors in the living area...that give an incredible indoor-outdoor feel to the whole house," Mr. Firestone said, noting that the home’s open floor plan and sleek interiors are unusual for residences in the area.

Neighborhood Notes

Set in the heart of Georgetown, the home is about a 10-minute walk from the Apple Store, in addition to scores of shops and restaurants. The trails of Rock Creek Park and the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal towpath are roughly 15 minutes away.
