In Dubai, even the most standard amenities are supersized. If you need an extra large parking space for your Aston Martin, expect to find a home with three extra large parking spaces, in addition to lodging for your driver and parking for your yacht on standard offer.

Amenities in Dubai’s newest developments extend beyond the normal into the thoughtful, creative, relaxing and downright luxurious.

Privacy

In a bustling city sometimes being alone is the greatest luxury. The Sanctuary Collection of apartments at the SOMA architect designed One At Palm Jumeirah, due to be completed in 2018, features the usual building amenities, but all in the privacy of your own home. Apartments have private elevators, lobbies, spa treatment rooms, screening rooms, music rooms and art galleries. If you do venture out of your home into the rest of the building, which features interior design by the Japanese firm Super Potato, enjoy the cigar bar and then atone for it at the oxygen-filled vitality pool at the spa.

Garden strolls

At the recently opened The Al Barari Residences, 80% of the 18.42 million-square-foot development is devoted to lush greenery. The 325 acres of verdant landscape contain 700 different types of plants and seven themed gardens. Residents can wander through an olive grove filled with 100-year-old trees in the Mediterranean Garden, or stop by the Showcase Garden to attend a wellness workshop or yoga class.

For the athlete

At Meydan Sobha’s District One, residents will be able to race each other on almost nine kilometers of running, cycling and walking trails that loop through the parkland around the periphery of the property. The first homes are slated for completion at the end of 2016. The low impact surfaces of the trails are easy on the knees, and solar powered lights allow for nighttime jaunts.

Horsing around

The bucolic setting of the Sidra villas of the Dubai Hills Estate, in Mohammed Ben Rashid City, offers a taste of the country life. It is only a stone’s throw away from the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club, a 68-acre facility that has 336 stables and 25 paddocks, and offers desert rides and polo lessons, and an Argentine restaurant, among other amenities. For those not interested in riding, Dubai Hills Estate is planned around an 18-hole championship golf course, and there’s a tennis center staffed with pros from around the world. Delivery for Dubai Hills commences 2017, the Sidra portion of the property is expected to be ready in 2019.

Movie time

For the Hollywood Experience, the Paramount Hotel and Residences, now under construction, will offer screening rooms modeled after the screening rooms used by Paramount in Hollywood, as well as extensive access to Paramount’s back catalog of films and a Paramount store. After the movies, take in the view from the rooftop infinity pool.

Culture

For opera buffs, there’s no better amenity than immediate proximity to the new Dubai Opera House.  Act One | Act Two in the Opera District provides access to the new performing arts structure, it is right next door to a cultural amenity sure to rival the Sydney Opera House. The Dubai Opera House, which opened Wednesday, is a 2,000-seat venue in the shape of a dhow, a traditional Arabic sailboat. Those living in Act One | Act Two will also have views of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world, and the Dubai fountain, the world’s largest choreographed fountain, and is walking distance to the Dubai Mall, one of the most impressive malls in the world, which has its own ice skating rink, aquarium and underwater zoo, in addition to designer shopping.

Shipshape

What happens when one of the world’s leading luxury hotel and jewelry brands builds a yacht club? At the Bulgari Resort and Residences in Dubai, designed by the Italian architects Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners, and scheduled for completion in 2017, residents cross a 300-meter bridge onto a private seahorse-shaped island off the coast of Jumierah Beach Road. They can enjoy their own private beach, and of course, the 50 berth Bulgari Marina and Yacht Club, the first of its kind and sure to be the most stylish boat club in the world.

Club luxury

Club 104 at the upcoming Alef development on Palm Jumeirah, slated for completion in July 2017, stretches over three stories, providing residents with an array of activities in an understated setting, including a movie theater, barbecue and picnic area, gym, lounge, spa, yoga, tennis courts, restaurants and juice bar. The real draws are the garden, where every plant is labeled and described in both Arabic and English, and the sunsets over the 475-meter private beach.
