Only 15 miles stands between this country home and Denver’s vibrant downtown.
The contemporary house is an unlikely addition to its decidedly pastoral setting. Perched atop a slope, the angular home overlooks a rugged stretch of the Rocky Mountains.
Designed to be handicap accessible, an elevator services its three floors, which include a finished basement. A ramp leads to the first-floor bedrooms.

The sellers, who asked not to be identified, are downsizing with plans to move to Denver. When they built the house in 2008, they wanted a grassy lawn where their children could play.
"In another house, we had two acres of bluegrass, but it needed lots of watering," the seller said. To reduce maintenance, the couple planted bluegrass near the home. But the lawn then segues into rougher, native grasses—which require less upkeep.
The grounds include a prairie garden and a second garden where flowers grow.
The Stats
Set on nearly three acres, the 9,715-square-foot house has five bedrooms and eight full bathrooms.
Amenities
For those who prefer to eat under the stars, there’s an outdoor dining room with a kitchen and fire pit. A gym, sauna and rec room are located on the home’s basement level. There’s also a greenhouse.
Neighborhood Notes
Despite its seemingly remote location, Greenwood Village is a short drive to all the attractions downtown Denver has to offer, which includes theater, opera, hip restaurants and professional sports—the city is home to the NBA’s Nuggets and the NFL’s Broncos.
