The former Los Angeles home of music legend Frank Zappa has a new owner.
The Zappa Estate, spanning close to 7,000 square feet, was sold earlier this month for $5.25 million, just shy of its full asking price of $5.49 million, according to listing broker Rayni Williams of Hilton & Hyland.
The seven-bedroom, six-bathroom property includes a rooftop tennis court, a large swimming pool in the backyard and plenty of room for visitors, including two guest cottages and an attached guest apartment, according to the listing.

Of special interest to Zappa fans and the music aficionado, the house also includes the so-called "Utility Muffin Research Kitchen," the recording studio that Zappa built at the property and where he recorded several songs.
Located on a quiet street in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood, the estate boasts unique features, such as one-of-a-kind mosaic art, porthole windows and doors salvaged from vintage submarines.
Beneath the main house, there is also a storage chamber the late Zappa, who died in 1993 at the age of 52, called "The Vault," which he used to keep his private archives, according to the listing.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Zappa bought the property in the late 1960s and prior to the sale it was in his family's hands.
