It was love at first sight when the owners of Villa Noe stepped into the home. And it’s not hard to see why, after taking in the view beyond the living room’s sliding doors: the infinity-edge swimming pool, which appears to cascade into the turquoise sea, surrounded by swaying palms, with neighboring islands St. Kitts and Nevis in the distance.

The villa is situated on the Toiny coast, in the southeast corner of one of the Caribbean’s most exclusive islands—St. Barts—known for its white sand beaches. The coast, rocky and wild, "romantically channels that of France’s Brittany," said Peg Walsh, president of St. Barth Properties Sotheby's International Realty. "The trade winds here are delightful and the sound of the surf is happily hypnotic."

Toiny is one of the island's more private destinations. Here, you’ll find Hotel Le Toiny, named one of the "world’s most sophisticated hotels" by Condé Nast Traveler. It includes a popular restaurant.

The Stats

The home’s two bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, open onto the pool terrace. One bedroom is located in the main house and the other in a separate pavilion, which includes a dressing room.

Amenities

The villa’s most striking feature is the infinity-edge pool, alongside a canopied al-fresco dining area, and what Ms. Walsh describes as a "modish, minimalist cabana." There’s also a barbecue, in addition to a bar off the living room.

Neighborhood Notes

The home had modest beginnings. It started out as what locals refer to as a "case." These tiny cottages, many of which have stood for centuries, were designed to withstand strong winds. They typically consist of two structures—the main house, where the bedroom and living room are located, and a secondary building, which houses the kitchen and bathroom.

The owners collaborated with a local architect to incorporate the original house into the design of what is now an "ultra-modern, two-bedroom villa with a nod to tradition," Ms. Walsh said. The home "embodies the island’s casual sophistication" with lots of fresh white paint, and sliding glass doors which bring the outside in.

Talking Point

The sellers often rent the property during the winter holidays—when it can fetch more than $15,000 a week.
