If only these walls  — or floorboards — could talk.

A 4,000-square-foot penthouse hit the market in London’s Marylebone neighborhood earlier this summer for £8.95 million (US $11.64 million). And its landmarked building, known as Harley House, has at different points been home to rock star Mick Jagger, actress and author Joan Collins and Thomas Beechem, founder of the London Symphony Orchestra.

According to the Daily Mail, Mr. Jagger and his girlfriend at the time, Chrissie Shrimpton, rented a fifth-floor flat in the Harley House in 1966.  And according to Rolling Stone, Mr. Jagger once crashed his three-week-old Aston Martin near the building.

The Edwardian mansion has been refurbished several times since any of its star residents lived there, a representative from listing agent Kay & Co. told Mansion Global Wednesday. But the building’s beginnings were much more humble: It was built in 1904 by architects Edward Boehmer and Percy Christian Gibbs as a Catholic institution to host Irish migrants who’d moved to London to work as servants for wealthy families (Think it "Downton Abbey" in the city).

The property's reception hall includes a sky light and a fireplace—one of several fireplaces in the penthouse.

The penthouse apartment—which is on the sixth floor — has six bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms and a 27-foot-long reception room connected by double doors to a dining room with a restored fireplace and "corona"-style chandelier. French windows lead out to a juliet balcony.

"The penthouse, with its stunning views and double-height ceilings creates the perfect setting for a buyer who enjoys regular entertaining. Ideally positioned on the border of Marylebone and the Regent’s Park and with around 575 square feet of terrace space, the penthouse offers glorious views over the verdant Regent’s Park," said Martin Bikhit, Managing Director of Kay & Co.

The flat comes with two parking spaces, 24-hour security, porterage and concierge service, and a secure carriage driveway with electronically operated gates that might appeal to today’s rock legends.
