Besides having an acclaimed owner, Cerro Pelon is famous in its own right.

The property includes Silverado Movie Town, an Old West whistlestop built as a set for the 1985 film “Silverado.” The “town” has gone on to be featured in movies including “All the Pretty Horses,” ‘Wild, Wild West” and “Thor.”

As if owner pedigree and celluloid stardom were not enough, Cerro Pelon boasts as its’ primary domicile a stunning structure conceived by renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando.

Ando, known for his work on the Armani Teatro in Milan and the 9/11 memorial in lower Manhattan, collaborated with Ford on the design of the main residence, a modern compound that fully displays the architect’s unique aesthetic.

Set above a reflecting pool, the concrete compound features bold, sharp lines and floor-to ceiling windows that take advantage of remarkable natural lighting.

Adjoining the home is an eight-stall horse barn designed in an ultra-modern style that complements the property’s indoor/outdoor riding arenas. There are also four staff quarters and two private guest houses designed and built by internationally recognized architect Marmot Radziner.

In addition to designing the primary home, Ando provided full architectural plans, complete with scale models, for a second yet-to-be-built residential compound on the property.

Ford showcased the remarkable home in 2010, when he served as a guest editor for French Vogue.
