After being on the market for over three years, the massive penthouse of the Baccarat Hotel & Residences on West 53rd Street has sold for $42.55 million, according to city registry. It was first listed in February 2013 for $60 million.

Although the 7,400-square-foot penthouse took an almost $20 million price chop, it was still the most expensive residence in the building. And with its closing, Baccarat Residences has only four of 59 apartments remaining for sale.

The duplex penthouse features interior design by Tony Ingrao, with grand entertaining spaces, an expansive 600 square foot double-height loggia, floor-to-ceiling windows and 14-foot ceilings. A corner living room, formal dining room, library and eat-in kitchen provide for entertaining on a grand scale.

The 1,150-square-foot master suite offers double dressing rooms and a marble bath of almost 400 square feet. Four additional bedroom suites and studies ensure ample space.

The duplex apartment offers 360 degree views of the city.

Despite an overall slowdown for ultra-luxury residences in Manhattan, The Baccarat Hotel & Residences New York, which boasts many hotel services, seems to be bucking the trend. On June 14, 18/19C and 18B in the building were also sold. The asking price for 18/19C was $12.75 million and for 18B was $4.495 million. Their sales prices are not released yet.

Residents of Baccarat Residences have complete access to the amenities of the flagship Baccarat Hotel, including Chevalier, the new restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Shea Gallante, the private Petite Salon lounge, Spa de la Mer, the only one in the world run by the luxurious skincare brand, Baccarat Bar, a full fitness center and marble-clad pool with private cabanas.

The listing agents are Lauren Muss, Gail Sankarsingh and Janice Chang of Douglas Elliman.
