While some New Yorkers prefer apartments with private terraces, others opt for green spaces where they can socialize with their neighbors. With summer weather officially here to stay, we’ve rounded up five new condominium developments with immaculate gardens.

Jardim

Designed by Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld, this condominium consists of two towers that occupy a full West Chelsea block. The buildings frame a private park. Dotted with seating areas, these tiered gardens feature a canopy of evergreens and flowering trees, set above clusters of shrubs. The building’s rooftop and terrace areas are also speckled with plantings, weaving the garden theme throughout the development.

The Greenwich Lane

Set between 11th and 12th streets off Seventh Avenue, the Greenwich Lane development comprises five buildings and five townhouses set around a 14,000-square-foot courtyard. Designed by M. Paul Friedberg & Partners, this garden boasts a reflecting pool, an allée planted with birches, and a trellised Italianate pavilion.

Oosten

For those looking to escape the Manhattan bustle, Oosten, a new condominium development in South Williamsburg, offers 216 luxury residences – each with views of the building’s landscaped courtyard. Designed by the Dutch interior architect Piet Boon, the block-long building is one of Brooklyn’s largest residential developments.

The Shephard

Situated on West 10th Street, the amenities at the Shephard condominium were designed to seamlessly blend in with the building’s aesthetics. As such, French doors in the lobby open to a private garden, which offers residents a quiet place to ponder over their morning espresso.

303 East 44th Street

The biggest draw for this 41-story East Midtown condominium could be what the architect, Eran Chen of ODA-New York, has referred to as “sculptured gardens.” Some of the floors will be separated by 16-foot gaps, starting at the 23rd floor. The gaps, which will be supported by white beams, will be used as private gardens for eleven of the building’s residences.
