Listing of the Day

Location: Paris, France Price: €9.95 million (about $11.09 million)

From a boulangerie where you can buy fresh bread every day to great restaurants, museums and theaters, “everything is on the doorstep,” said listing agent Virginie de Saint Léger of Paris Ouest Sotheby's International Realty. “And you’re only ten minutes away from the river Seine and Eiffel Tower.”

Ms. de Saint Léger is referring to the location of this 20-room mansion, which is set in the upmarket district of Muette in the 16th arrondissement.

The 19th-century house has the looks to match the quintessentially Parisian setting, with a façade built from “Paris stone,” — a locally-sourced limestone of the kind that was used on the exteriors of the Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Louvre — grey slate tiles on the mansard roof, and tall casement windows.

The home is surrounded by beautiful green spaces, including the Bois de Boulogne park and the Jardins du Trocadér. The property also boasts its own plant-filled enclave. This landscaped courtyard has a water feature and is enclosed by high stone walls covered in foliage, which makes it completely private.

The dining room has old-style grandeur, with restored period wood paneling on the walls, black-and-white checkerboard flooring made from stone tiles, and double doors that disappear into the walls. The two reception-rooms feature wood paneling and polished parquet floors. They’re decorated with an eclectic mix of modern paintings and classical sculptures, as well as contemporary and traditional furniture.

The house also lends itself to food lovers. It features a professional kitchen with a La Cornue silver range cooker, in addition to a temperature-controlled cellar used for storing wine — there is room for hundreds of bottles — and hanging game and ham.

The Stats

The four-story house has six bedrooms (all with en suite bathrooms). There’s also an adjoining townhouse with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Amenities

The home’s lower level includes a nightclub, a game room and a second kitchen.

Neighborhood Notes

Muette is part of the 16th arrondissement, which is widely regarded as one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the city. It is a chic but quiet, family-friendly area that is favored by the French elite; the former president Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni are said to live in the neighborhood.

Located near the Right Bank, to the north of the river Seine, the area is also popular with Americans, according to Ms. de Saint Léger, because you can reach everything by foot and it is close to the American Cathedral. The famous shopping street Rue de Passy is just around the corner.
