New pictures were released last week of what the American Copper development on Manhattan’s East River will look like once it is completed later this year. The most headline-grabbing feature was the fact that it has a skybridge connecting two copper towers; they will eventually turn green like the Statue of Liberty. Not only is it the city’s first major new skybridge in 80 years, but it also has a 75-foot lap pool where residents will have views of the Empire State Building, the East River and the Manhattan skyline while swimming 300 feet in the air between the buildings.

In London, the future residents of Embassy Gardens, a new luxury residential development in the southwest of the city, will be able to swim to their neighbors' apartments, thanks to a suspended pool that will link two towers at the 10th floor. Fewer than eight inches of glass will separate swimmers in the 82-foot-long, fully transparent “sky pool” from the streets below. In India, meanwhile, the Twilight Star development in Gujarat will be home to a 65-foot-long see-through swimming pool. Part of it will project outward from the building, meaning residents will be able to swim beyond the external walls. The development will be made up of five connected towers; the skypool will sit on one of the connecting bridges. Finally, in Singapore’s Bishan neighborhood, there is the Sky Habitat development, which was designed by Israeli architect Moshe Safdie and completed earlier this year. It has three sky bridges connecting two residential buildings. On the highest bridge, residents can relax at the skypool on the 38th floor, where they can enjoy panoramic views spanning city to park from the 164-foot-long swimming pool.
