Listing of the Day

Location: New York CityPrice: $13.85 million When it comes to entertaining, Alyson Winston is an expert. As an event producer, the mother of two orchestrates large-scale events for big-name clients such as Nike and HBO. In her spare time, she hosts charity fundraisers with up to 75 guests; many have taken place in her Greenwich Village apartment. When Winston and her husband, Gunner, began looking for an apartment, they knew they wanted a home where they could entertain, but still keep an eye on their children. “We don’t want to compromise how we live just because we have kids,” she explained. In 2012, the couple purchased a sixth-floor apartment at the Greenwich, a 12-story condominium building near Sixth Avenue. They quickly launched a gut renovation, transforming the space into an elegant residence with separate wings for adults and children. “We did pimp out one playroom for the kids,” Winston said, referring to the den, which features a tree house, a slide and a full NBA-sized basketball hoop. “I’ve seen a lot of playrooms, but this is the most impressive,” said listing agent Michael Graves of Douglas Elliman. The Stats

The 4,584-square-foot apartment has four bedrooms, three full bathrooms and one partial bath. The den can be used as a fifth bedroom. Design Pedigree The Greenwich was built in 1904. It was converted into a 67-unit condominium building in 2001. “We knew we wanted to completely gut it to make it work for our family,” Winston said of their unit. The couple hired Manhattan interior design Mark Cunningham to lead the renovation, which took two years to complete. The neutral living areas are highlighted with rich textures and pops of color; coffered ceilings and custom paneling amp up the elegance. Amenities The property features a formal dining room with a glass wine cellar. There’s also a separate entrance for staff, as well as a mechanical room that houses the smart-home systems. Shared amenities include a lobby with concierge services, a fitness center, a children’s playroom and a roof terrace with barbecue facilities, cabanas and sweeping city views. Neighborhood Notes The home is located on 13th Street near Sixth Avenue — close to plenty of restaurants, shopping and public transportation. “We found accessibility was phenomenal in this area,” Winston said, adding that it was a convenient location to raise their children. The couple is selling the home because Winston has accepted a job opportunity in Los Angeles. “When we designed it, we never thought we’d leave New York,” Winston said. “It’s bittersweet.” Agent: Michael Graves, Douglas Elliman Real Estate View this listing
