Location: Denver, Colorado Price: $4.75 million “Our primary residence is actually the airplane,” Agatha Kessler joked. Kessler, a property developer, is married to architect Curtis Fentress; she’s also chairman of the globally renowned design firm, Fentress Architects. The duo is constantly on the road, or in the air, jetting between projects — so coming home to a relaxing atmosphere is an absolute necessity. “We wanted something very minimalist,” Kessler said. “Something very serene.” About four years ago, the couple purchased a residence on the 40th floor of the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Denver, which they promptly demolished. It took two years to design and rebuild the home, one that is light, bright and airy, and makes the most of the tower’s sweeping city views. “We’re in the design world, and we’re bombarded with colors all day long,” Kessler explained. “If you invite too many colors, too many patterns, you really don’t see the environment that much.” The Stats

The 4,828-square-foot home has three bedrooms and 3½ bathrooms. There’s an additional 1,000 square feet of outdoor space, spread across two terraces. Design Pedigree Fentress Architects has completed more than $50 billion in global design projects, including the Denver International Airport, the Colorado Convention Center, Incheon International Airport and the Sports Authority Field at Mile High stadium, as well as several museums, convention centers and high-rises. “That’s why our home has to be calm and peaceful,” Kessler explained. “It’s what allows you to be creative.” The original apartment consisted of four bedrooms and five bathrooms, but the couple broke down the walls, eliminating some rooms to “to realign where the views would be.” The apartment now features a large living space, subtly divided into individual seating areas, with 180-degree views of the city and the Rocky Mountains. Amenities After a 16-hour flight, the couple likes to unwind at the hotel spa or order dinner from the restaurant. The building also has a swimming pool and fitness facilities. “It’s like having a resort in your home,” Kessler said, adding that they’re well acquainted with the chefs, who often customize their meals. Neighborhood Notes “We call it the billion-dollar block,” Kessler said, referring to the hotel’s prime location in the Denver Theatre District. A performing arts complex with ten venues is across the street; a smattering of trendy restaurants are within walking distance. Browse the gallery above for a look inside the home. Agent: Douglas D.
