Location:  New York

Price: $10.5 million Dennis Suskind, a retired partner at Goldman Sachs, describes his roomy loft—perched on the third floor of a former factory on a quiet Soho street—as “very informal and very comfortable.” Suskind, also the president of the Hampton Classic horse show and on the board of directors for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, lives in the airy space with his wife, Cynthia. The couple was drawn to the loft’s 14-foot-high ceilings, as well as the sunlight that pours through the casement windows, which overlook the cobblestone street below. “It’s a great place to live,” Suskind said of the location. “Soho is Soho. It’s always alive.” The Basics The 4,400-square-foot loft has four bedrooms and 4½ bathrooms. Design Pedigree Four-story 73 Wooster Street opened in 1929 as a parking garage, but later housed a cardboard box manufacturer, according to the New York Times. In 2004, SLCE Architects converted the structure into six residential lofts; the Suskinds were the first to purchase one. The couple enlisted designer Viorica Belcic to style the home’s interiors. Super Storage “We have built-ins on both sides of the room,” Suskind said of the living area. “We’re not neat freaks, but we like things put away.” The master suite and guest bedrooms have storage that reaches nearly floor-to-ceiling. “Our inspiration was that we had collected a lot of stuff over the years,” he said with a laugh. Neighborhood Notes “It’s a quiet street,” Suskind said, pointing out that Wooster Street is narrow and invites little traffic. A few of the buildings across from 73 Wooster are in the midst of renovations, so future residents can look forward to an eye-pleasing façade. Additional Perks The block’s style quotient rose considerably when Moschino, the idiosyncratic Italian fashion label, opened a boutique on 73 Wooster’s ground floor designed by Moschino’s creative director Jeremy Scott. An added bonus? It’s much quieter than living above a hip restaurant or a rowdy bar. Agent: James Morgan and Brandon Cohen of Compass View the full listing.
