A Fort Lauderdale home going on the market for $40 million will be the city’s priciest listing, according to listing agents Dennis Stevick and Dale Atkins of One Sotheby’s International Realty. If it fetches its asking price, the waterfront home would also set a new record for the highest-priced home sale in Fort Lauderdale, the agents said.

Located on the New River, the Mediterranean Revival home took about three years to build and was completed a little over a year ago, the agents said. Measuring about 16,000 square feet, the four-bedroom main house boasts many elaborate features including a hand-carved marble bath tub, built-in watch-winders in a master bedroom closet, a massage room with a wall of yellow onyx and a kitchen with a built-in saltwater aquarium. The house is being sold fully furnished, including about 20 televisions, the agents said. Outside, the property includes a floating concrete dock and a two-bedroom guest house with a yacht captain’s chart room on the lower level. There’s also a swimming pool, a roof deck with a hot tub and an outdoor living room with a fireplace and television. According to public records, the owner is an entity linked to Wayne D. Jones, of Michigan-based L&W Engineering. Mr. Jones did not return a call seeking comment. About 30 miles north of Miami, Fort Lauderdale has long been in shadow of the Miami’s high-priced real estate market. But the boating-centric city is now seeing “a tremendous amount of new construction,” Mr. Stevick said, adding: “We’ve seen prices go up 20 to 30 percent from just a few years ago.” Write to Candace Taylor at Candace.Taylor@wsj.com This article originally appeared on The Wall Street Journal.
