Location:  Whitefish, Mont.

Price: $11.995 million This roomy retreat—known as Golden Bear Ranch—sits on 5½ gated acres on Whitefish Lake in northwestern Montana. Surrounded by forest, the house has a level of privacy shared by only a few other properties on the lake, according to listing agent Kelly Laabs of Glacier Sotheby’s International Realty. Built in 1990 by actress Julia Roberts and her then-fiancé Kiefer Sutherland, the home was completely remodeled by the current owner in 2015. The 8,000-square-foot house spans three floors and has five bedrooms and 5½ bathrooms. A large deck overlooks the landscaped grounds, which include 200 feet of pebble beach along the lake. There’s also an outdoor shower, a hot tub, and a 9-hole Frisbee golf course. “There’s a big, sprawling lawn between the guesthouse and the main house,” Laabs said. The 2,200-square-foot guesthouse has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. A path winds down a slope from the main residence to the boathouse, which has its own kitchen, bar, sitting area and full bath. There’s also a Murphy bed, for those who don’t feel like leaving.
