Kenneth Griffin Puts Two Faena House Condos on the Market for $73 Million

The hedge-fund billionaire had purchased the Miami Beach properties for $60 million in the fall of 2015

Billionaire hedge-fund manager Kenneth Griffin is putting his two newly purchased properties at Faena House in Miami Beach back on the market for a total of $73 million, according to Eloy Carmenate of Douglas Elliman Real Estate, who is listing the property with colleague Mick Duchon. Mr. Griffin is listing the units separately. The penthouse, which encompasses the top floor of the building, will be listed for $55 million. It has five bedrooms and measures about 8,270 square feet. In addition to a roughly 2,700-square-foot roof deck with its own pool, the penthouse has a wraparound terrace measuring about 7,300 square feet.

The second unit, which is directly under the penthouse and encompasses half of the 15th floor, will be listed for $18 million. It has three bedrooms and measures about 4,240 square feet. The unit also has a terrace measuring about 2,720 square feet. Mr. Griffin bought the properties in the fall of 2015 for a total of $60 million. He went into contract on the units in 2014, before the building was completed. The developers, Alan Faena of Faena Group and Len Blavatnik, said at the time they customized the layout for him. The developer will soon begin building out the interiors, Mr. Carmenate said, although a new buyer could request changes.

The two units haven't been combined; a spokesperson for Mr. Griffin declined to comment on whether he planned to combine them or why he is selling. Mr. Griffin owns other properties in Miami, according to people with knowledge of his real estate holdings. The founder of Citadel, a hedge fund and securities firm, Mr. Griffin in recent years has bought and sold several big-ticket properties. In 2012 he bought four properties in Palm Beach for nearly $130 million. In 2014 he spent about $30 million for two full floor condos at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Chicago, then sold one of them in December of 2015 for $16 million. He also signed a contract to pay $200 million for multiple apartments at 220 Central Park South in Manhattan.
