R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck has sold a Kauai home that had lingered on the market for years for $6.2 million. Initially listed in 2012 for $12.9 million, the single-story, beachfront home had experienced several price cuts and was most recently asking $7.9 million with Neal Norman of Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers. According to the listing, the 1-acre property has about 315 feet of frontage on Anini Beach, on the north shore of Kauai. There’s a four-bedroom main house measuring about 4,000 square feet, plus a separate guest cottage. Built around 1990, the house was purchased by Mr. Buck in 1996 for $2.67 million, according to public records. Mr. Buck, 59, was for years the lead guitarist for the alternative rock band R.E.M., which split up in 2011. Since then he’s released several solo albums, including this fall’s “Warzone Earth.” Mr. Buck declined to comment.
