Location:  Laguna Beach, Calif.

Price:  $45 million This contemporary home is set on a bluff above Southern California’s rocky coastline overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The house is one of 13 private homes located near the Montage Laguna Beach resort. It was designed by Morris Skendarian, a noted local architect with deep roots in Laguna Beach, said listing agent John Stanaland of HÔM Sotheby’s International Realty. The two-story residence spans 9,500 square feet. It has five bedrooms, six full bathrooms and two partial bathrooms. An atrium near the entrance floods both floors with natural light. A floating staircase leads to the entertaining level, which includes a full bar, a wine cellar and a lanai with a one-story waterfall. The house was built in 2010. Stanaland declined to disclose the identities of the owners, but said they had built the property for themselves. “It’s probably one of the nicest homes I’ve ever been in and I’m in a lot of homes,” he said.
