Location:  Chiang Mai, Thailand

Price:  $14.4 million This estate is in the Himalayan foothills of northern Thailand. Nestled beneath towering mountains and a lush rainforest backdrop, the 4-acre property takes advantage of the area’s rustic beauty and its tranquil surroundings. The home belongs to Howard Feldman, who is originally from Boston, but has lived in Thailand for more than 20 years. His wife ran a manufacturing company in Chiang Mai, and together they exported kitchen textiles to the U.S. Feldman purchased the lot in 1998. "After visiting the Four Seasons here in Chiang Mai for dinner one evening I declared, ‘I would like to live like this,’” he said. The designer of the Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai is Bill Bensley, an American architect who lives in Thailand. Feldman worked with Bensley for seven years to build his dream home. “Not in my wildest dreams could I have envisioned what he created,” he said. Some of Feldman’s favorite memories of the home include waking up “in paradise” every day. He describes the property as safe, secure and ideal for entertaining. Although the estate is Feldman’s private residence, he recently began offering it as a high-end homestay. Feldman decided to sell the property because he is eager to begin a new project. He owns a parcel of land on the same road and wants to build another home there. “I love creating, designing and construction,” he said.
