A 130-year-old house in San Francisco’s upscale Russian Hill neighborhood was listed Monday for $16.9 million, making it one of the most expensive homes now on the market in the West Coast city.

The four-level, single-family home on Francisco Street was built in 1888 and has interior finishes and design by local San Francisco interior designer Steven Volpe.

With six bedrooms, six-and-a-half bathrooms and spanning 6,180 square feet, the house has multiple terraces, a landscaped garden, wine storage, a two-car garage and oversized windows that deliver views downtown and across San Francisco Bay, including the city’s famed bridges.

The home is "contemporary family living at its best," according to the listing with Compass’s Neal Ward, who did not immediately respond to request for comment.

It’s located two blocks away from the neighborhood’s famed Lombard Street, the crooked and steep street with eight hairpin turns.

The seller is a limited liability company—named after a Volkswagen sports car—that purchased the home in 2013 for $12.375 million, according to records with PropertyShark.

The house’s almost $17 million price tag makes it the third most expensive available in the city, according to listing records. It’s beat to the top spot by a 16,000-square-foot mansion in Cow Hollow asking $29.5 million and a Pacific Heights house with an asking price of $17.8 million.
