Fashion designer Zac Posen has shunned the fashionable neighborhoods of SoHo, Tribeca and Chelsea to live in a co-op on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

The 36-year-old "Project Runway" judge, who grew up in SoHo, has just snagged himself a $3.5 million two-bedroom penthouse in the Emory Roth-designed 210 East 73rd Street co-op building, according to city property records.

He also scored an impressive $495,000 discount from the final asking price for the duplex penthouse, although he may need to use some of those savings to redecorate the traditionally styled apartment.

That’s unless, of course, floral wallpaper and check valance curtains (or vice versa), which adorn some of the penthouse’s living spaces and bedrooms, are his thing.

Elsewhere, there is a neo-classical grand entrance that comes with hand-painted beamed ceilings and a curved iron staircase, a formal dining room big enough to entertain the fashion pack and seven large custom-outfitted closets (four of which are walk-in), perfect for a fashionista.

However, the penthouse’s showstopper has to be the 1,800-square-foot wrap-around terrace, which boasts 360-degree open views.

The penthouse was previously listed for $4.495 million by brokerage Corcoran, before being marketed by Core for $3.995 million.

Amenities in the building include a doorman, gym, outside courtyard with a grill, a large laundry room, bike room and storage room.

A spokesperson for Mr. Posen and Jeffrey Smith of Core, the listing agent, did not respond immediately to request for comment.
