Location: Hamilton, Montana

Price: $27.5 million

This 17-acre estate is part of the exclusive 2,600-acre Stock Farm Club, which has cornerstone amenities that include a Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course and a 27,000-square-foot clubhouse.

Priced at $27.5 million, this outsized Western farmhouse in Hamilton is one of Montana's most expensive homes currently on the market.

"The house is huge and it has impeccable craftsmanship," said listing agent Dawn Maddux of Engel & Völkers Western Frontier. "It has over 25,000 square feet of space—there are four kitchens and 23 toilets."

Design features in the home include handcrafted chandeliers, cathedral ceilings, exposed beams, highly skilled woodwork, custom stained-glass windows, a variety of gas- and wood-burning fireplaces, and distinctive marble, granite and other stone work.

The property is in the fairly temperate southwest corner of Montana, in the heart of the scenic Bitterroot Valley.

"You have a beautiful view of the mountains–you don’t see any neighbors from the house," Ms. Maddux said. "But the beauty is that you can hop on a golf cart and go to the clubhouse and have the chef make you a wonderful dinner."

"It is very, very private, and the neighbors are very private," she said. "It’s a lot of high net worth individuals."

Inside the custom-stained glass front doors, you’ll find a formal entry and a grand yet cozy great room with a one-of-a-kind Frontier Ironworks chandelier, a floor-to-ceiling river stone fireplace and cathedral ceilings.

There is an adjoining formal dining room, which opens onto the wrap-around blue stone patio for indoor-outdoor entertaining and outstanding views of the mature grounds and mountains.

The commercial-grade kitchen has two large islands, state-of-the-art appliances, three sinks, three dishwashers, and butcher block countertops.

The owner’s suite is tucked away on the main level and features a large bedroom with a fireplace, bay window and fabric walls. There are also opulently outfitted his-and-hers bathrooms.

The main level holds a library with built-in floor-to-ceiling shelving and a den/sitting room that opens onto a quiet veranda for private meals. Above the den, accessible by a winding staircase, there is a private office space/hobby room with built in cabinets and wet bar.

The second and third floors have a wide array of guest suites, some with full kitchens.

Neighborhood notes

Downtown Hamilton is about 10 minutes away, and there is also a private airport nearby, Ms. Maddux said.

The Stock Farm Club clubhouse is very close to the property, she said. "It’s a nice walk or within golf cart distance."

In 2017, the club completed a new state-of-the-art 10,000-square-foot exercise facility and Olympic-sized pool that features patio-side dining.
