Trump Tower, President Donald Trump’s main residence away from the White House, has logged its first sale since he became president nearly two months ago: a one-bedroom that sold for just under $2.19 million, Mansion Global has learned.

Property records list the seller as Julia Kogan, who bought the one-bedroom apartment in 2012 for $1.95 million. She took out a mortgage for the full cost, not from a traditional bank, but directly from Boris Kogan, the co-founder of transport giant Kaalbye Shipping Ukraine, based in Odessa, property records show.

Mr. Kogan’s company is heavily involved in shipping Russian military equipment around the world, and has also delivered cargo for the U.S. Navy and rockets for NASA. He also serves as a board member of RT Logistika, a subsidiary of a state-owned Russian industrial consortium. His fellow board members are senior Russian defense officials, including some close allies of President Vladimir Putin.

A spokesperson for Kaalbye has not returned a request for comment on the sale or Mr. Kogan's relation to the seller.

The one-bedroom apartment sold for just under the asking price of $2.195 million, said listing agent Michael Balanevsky of Somerset Residential, who did not comment on the seller or buyer.

The corner unit with views over Fifth Avenue and the Crown Building recently underwent an exceptional "full-marble" renovation, Mr. Balanevsky said.

The unit first hit the market in January 2016 for close to $3 million. The price came down gradually until its final sale last week, though interest in Trump Tower has picked up since Mr. Trump’s election in November, Mr. Balanevsky noted.

Online property records do not yet show who bought the unit.
