Location: Trump Island, Washington Price: $8.75 million
The name may not appeal to all buyers, but oh what a setting for the 29-acre, utterly private Trump Island in the heart of the San Juan Islands.
"The San Juan Islands are magical, but there is nothing out there that is like this island" in particular, said agent Leigh Zwicker. "You have complete privacy out there—you can’t see another house."
The forested island is an engineering marvel, with "an amazing amount of forethought that went into the infrastructure," she said. "It’s all self-contained."
Water is collected as runoff from the roof and then piped up into holding tanks and run through a purification system. In summer, when rainfall is low, the house uses purified seawater.
A pond supplies irrigation for the landscaping, and two giant generators run the electricity.

There is no ferry service to Trump Island. Access is only by private boat or seaplane. A barge was used to bring in all the building materials, and there was no dock on the island when the compound was built in 2000.
"How they got those materials in was amazing," Ms. Zwicker said. "There was nothing out there to help build that house."
How the island got its name remains a mystery, but yes, you can change it. "The majority of the people who have looked at the house have asked that question," Ms. Zwicker said. "It involves a whole lot of red tape, but it can be done."
The Stats
The 7,029-square-foot house has six bedrooms, four full baths and one half-bath. The island is 29.4 acres, with 5,000 feet of saltwater shoreline.
Amenities
Trump Island has a boatload of amenities, including three fireplaces, theater, pool room, bar, wine cellar and butler's pantry. Also on the property are a chicken coop, boat house, greenhouse, 1,200-square-foot caretaker's cottage, helipad and a deep-water dock to accommodate visiting friends with yachts or seaplanes.

Neighborhood Notes
There are 172 named islands and reefs in San Juan County. Only four—San Juan Island, Orcas Island, Lopez Island and Shaw Island—are served by ferry.
"You’re completely surrounded by islands out here," Ms. Zwicker said. "It’s a gorgeous area of the Northwest."
"If you really need a city fix, Seattle is not that far away," she adds.
