Selling a grand chalet in Colorado’s Telluride has proven to be a mission impossible for Tom Cruise.

The 54-year-old actor, who most recently starred in "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back," has given up, at least for now, on selling his $59 million home near the fashionable ski resort, taking it off the market after two years, according to the listing agent Bill Fandel of Telluride Sotheby’s International Realty .

The 298-acre gated estate, which is about 12 minutes by car from downtown Telluride, includes a near-10,000-square foot, four-bedroom main house, a three-bedroom-guesthouse, a sports court for tennis, basketball and ice hockey, and a private trail system.

When it first hit the market in October 2014, Mr. Fandel told The Wall Street Journal that Mr. Cruise spent several years designing it, completing it in 1994, but decided to sell as he hadn’t used it much over the past few years.

Mr. Fandel confirmed to Mansion Global on Friday that the property had been taken off the market, adding that it was too early to tell if it will be re-listed in 2017. A spokesperson for Mr. Cruise did not respond immediately to request for comment.
