Tom Clancy’s Former Baltimore Penthouse Relisted for $7.9 Million

Spy thriller fans take note: The late novelist Tom Clancy’s 12,000-square-foot Baltimore penthouse, has been relisted for $7.9 million.

The penthouse at the Ritz Carlton Residences on Key Highway,  was initially listed by Sotheby’s in 2016 for $12 million, and underwent two price drops before Cummings and Co. took over the listing, according to current broker Angel Stevens. The property returned to the market at its current price in February, the listing shows.

"This home is truly in a class by itself," Ms. Stevens said.

Clancy, who is famous for novels that became feature films such as "The Hunt for Red October," and "Patriot Games," purchased three of the units that make up the massive apartment in 2010 for $12.6 million.

In 2013, the year he passed away at age 66, Clancy purchased three more units, one of which he combined with the others; the other two which were turned into rental properties, according to the broker. . The resulting property, which offers views of the Baltimore Harbor, skyline and Federal Hill Park is unique.   "It is a place of luxury, it is a place of unparalleled views and natural light," Ms. Stevens said. "It's an almost magical setting with and sailboats drifting by your living room, bedroom and office—clearly inspirational."

Inside, the home has very large entertaining spaces, including a 1,500-square-foot living room, an art gallery foyer, four bedrooms, six bathrooms, an eat-in kitchen and separate dining room, six waterfront terraces, a home theater, fitness center and automated lighting, sound and blinds. There are also multiple offices, dens and libraries with built-in bookcases, including, "an office fit for one of the most celebrated authors of our generation," Ms. Stevens said.

The apartment is located in the first residential Ritz Carlton with no hotel component, and offers 24-hour concierge; valet parking; a game and billiards room and lounge; theater; salon and spa, and a restaurant that offers room service.

"It is five-star resort style living every day of the year," Ms.  Stevens said.
