A foray in real estate development has paid off for veteran producer Andrew Scheinman.

Mr. Scheinman, 69, who won an Emmy in 1993 for "Seinfeld" and picked up an Oscar nomination the same year for "A Few Good Men," has sold a Los Angeles spec home he developed for $9.5 million, according to listing records.

The Hollywood filmmaker hit his stride in the 1980s when he produced a slate of classics like "The Princess Bride," "Stand by Me" and "When Harry Met Sally." In 2013, Mr. Scheinman decided to dabble in property flipping when he purchased a house on Bellagio Terrace in Bel Air for $2.931 million, according to property records.

He tore down the four-bedroom, 3,600-square-foot home and built in its place a sun-filled contemporary oasis.

The five-bedroom new build is nearly double the size of its predecessor at 6,020 square feet. The home has six-and-a-half bathrooms and a 600-bottle wine cellar, listing agent Paul Czako of Gussman Czako Estates told Mansion Global in a previous interview.

The Los Angeles Times first reported the sale.

Heather Gussman, also of Gussman Czako Estates, represented the buyer.

Mr. Scheinman spent three years building the home using tip-top stone finishes like onyx, natural quartzite, black leather granite countertops and heated limestone floors. The design centers around an open floor plan with interior gardens and large, floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the backyard, which has a saltwater pool, fire pit and outdoor pizza oven.

He originally put his creation on the market for $11.495 million in October. The new buyer, not yet named in public property records, also gets 14 flat-screen TVs and 40 built-in speakers. Mr. Scheinman did not immediately return a request for comment.
