Anthony Sbarro, son of the founders of the Sbarro pizza chain, has chopped more than $5 million off the listing price of his newly built Hamptons home and signed on a new brokerage to handle the sale, Mansion Global has learned.
Listed for $32 million last July with Sotheby’s International Realty, the two-acre property in Southampton’s Murray Compound, a historic and seclusive community, now is co-listed by Douglas Elliman, asking $26.95 million.
Mr. Sbarro, 71, began building the house about two years ago, but he ended up buying another waterfront property in the town, he told The Wall Street Journal when he first put it on the market in 2016.
The new home has approximately 15,700 square feet of living space, including nine bedrooms, 11 full bathrooms and three half bathrooms. The fully furnished interior was designed by renowned Italian architect Achille Salvagni Atelier, according to listing agents Erica Grossman and Michaela Keszler of Douglas Elliman, who co-listed the property with Harald Grant of Sotheby’s International Realty.
The first floor features a vaulted entry gallery, a spacious living room and den, a formal dining room with a chef’s kitchen, as well as a junior master bedroom suite, according to Douglas Elliman’s description of the property.
There are several fireplaces throughout this floor, which also includes a glass enclosed breezeway, leading to the guesthouse with two bedroom suites and the garage.

The second floor has the master suite, featuring a private deck, two full bathrooms and custom walk-in closets, and three more guest suites.
The lower level includes a gym, sauna & steam rooms, a recreation game room with built-in bar, a home theater, a wine cellar, a dance studio and two guest bedroom suites. An elevator serves all three floors.
On the manicured outdoor landscape, there is a heated infinity pool, a pool house, a tennis court, numerous patios and covered decks.
Mr. Sbarro’s family started the eponymous pizza chain in the 1950s and sold the business in 2007. He wasn’t immediately available for comment.
