The children of a tight-knit San Francisco family, the Wong brothers were always close. In 2006, though, they became even closer–literally–when they moved into this originally two-unit residence together.

Yet, despite its size and ideal unit number, by 2015 the residence was strained by their growing families.

As a result, the brothers moved out and decided to work with Victor Leger of EAG studios to redesign their one-time bachelor pad into a brand-new single-family home.

"It’s a wonderful family house," said listing agent Rebecca Schumacher of Schumacher Properties, Sotheby’s. "Victor’s [designs are] always contemporary and always handsome," she continued, noting that the home’s intelligent use of space and an open-layout have made the residence "fabulous" for gatherings and entertainment.

Resting on a unique pie-shaped lot, Schumacher said Mr. Leger reflected the unusual shape in the home’s design, subtly incorporating it into such elements as the unique flared and tapered marble kitchen island. This kind of nuanced thinking extends to the rest of the modern interior, which features a striking juxtaposition of light and dark woods with customized lighting and geometric framing to achieve a sense of balance.

Spanning four floors along with a fifth rooftop level, it also has a sweeping view of the surrounding area with a glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Combining this attention to detail with subtle earth tones and smart home technology, the residence offers quintessential Bay Area living with a contemporary twist.

Stats

The approximately 5,000-square-foot home has five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and one half-bathroom.

Neighborhood notes

"It’s a terrific neighborhood," Ms. Schumacher said of The Marina, the young, vibrant neighborhood in which the residence is located. The home is within walking distance of some of the finest food, shopping and culture the city has to offer.
