When he’s done saving the world—at least on camera—Robert Downey Jr. will have a mid-century modern Malibu home to retire to.

The single-story home in Malibu Lagoon sold a couple of weeks ago for $3.8 million to a private entity linked to Mr. Downey’s production company and lawyer, property records show.

From his new terrace, the 52-year-old "Iron Man" actor will get a panoramic view of Malibu Lagoon and Surfrider Beach, according to the former listing with Paul and Sara Grisanti of Coldwell Banker. Judy Feder of  Hilton & Hyland was the buyer’s agent.

The contemporary yellow stone and stucco home, built in 1972, is newly remodeled, including a new garage and room for an office or fitness studio.

Within 3,400 square feet, there are three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Outside, there’s ample space and amenities for entertaining, including an outdoor barbecue and bar area, a black-bottomed pool and hot tub, a fire pit and a poolside cabana.

There’s even a modest putting green in the yard—accessible directly from one of the bedrooms, photos of the home show.

The home first hit the market in March, according to listing records.

A publicist for Mr. Downey did return a request for comment.
