The former Miami home of retired baseball star Sammy Sosa is back on the market after an extensive renovation and asking $17.25 million.
Located in Golden Beach, the 7,156-square-foot oceanfront estate has seven bedrooms and eight-and-a-half bathrooms. It features an open floor plan, 75 feet of direct ocean frontage and impressive ocean views, the listing shows.
“It’s a turn-key and has been fully furnished, down to the linens and towels. You don’t even need to bring your own toothbrush,” said listing agent Alexander Goldstein at Miles Goldstein Real Estate.
Property records show Mr. Sosa, 49, sold the house in March 2016 for $9.15 million. According to Mr. Goldstein, who represented Mr. Sosa when the property was sold to him, the former Chicago Cubs slugger sold the house for personal reasons and has another residence nearby.
“The current owner is an American business family who bought the house for an investment purpose,” Mr. Goldstein said. “They saw the potential in Sammy Sosa’s home and spent a year and half renovated it.”
Mr. Goldstein declined to reveal the cost of the renovations.
The property was relisted shortly after Mr. Sosa bidded farewell to it. The original asking price was $13.5 million and the listing was later removed this January. It returned to the market earlier this week, on Tuesday.
“The $13.5 million was without the renovation,” Mr. Goldstein said.
The newly upgraded home comes with a large master suite with its own terrace overlooking the ocean, a central courtyard, plus an outdoor pool facing the Atlantic Ocean.
Mr. Sosa played in the major leagues from 1989 to 2005, when he retired after playing one season with the Baltimore Orioles.
The listing was first reported by Curbed Miami.
