A glass-lined, waterfront mansion has set a new price record for 2018 in Miami-Dade County—selling for $19.75 million on Thursday, property records show.

The 14,000-square-foot contemporary villa overlooking the bay and downtown Miami belonged to Dutch producer Will van der Vlugt, according to property records. Mr. van der Vlugt is thefounder of Caramel Pictures, which has made a number of recognizable ads for chocolates and other confections. He listed the home little more than two months ago for $22 million.

Mr. van der Vlugt did not immediately return a request for comment.

It’s the most expensive home sold in the county so far this year, according to sales data on Redfin. The last big-ticket sale was a waterfront estate in Tahiti Beach that NFL linebacker Jonathan Vilma reportedly sold for $14.4 million in January, according to The Real Deal, which first reported the most recent record breaker.

Mr. Vilma’s sale is now No. 2 to this Coconut Grove home, which boasts 350 feet of water frontage and two pools (one on the roof). The buyer is listed in records only as Miami-based company 3550 Matheson Ave, LLC.
