It may not have been an actual real estate hole in one, but it appears pro golfer Jeff Sluman and his wife, Linda, have, indeed, pulled off the priciest sale in Illinois’ DuPage County in 2016, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The Slumans’ 9,000-square-foot custom-built mansion in the wealthy Chicago suburb of Hinsdale sold for $4 million this week, but it was a bit of a long time coming.

The Slumans put the Cleveland Road house, which was built in 2005, on the market for $5.45 million in 2010, later cutting the asking price to $5.1 million, $4.9 million and $4.75 million, according to Crain’s Chicago and the Tribune.

In December 2015, the house was put back on the market for $5 million,  according to the Tribune. Most recently, in July, the price was cut to $4.35 million, and has just sold for $4 million, according to property records.

Mr. Sluman, 59, who is now part of the PGA Tour’s Champions Tour and won the 1988 PGA Championship along with five other PGA Tour events, bought the half-acre site on which the house was built for $975,000 in 2003, according to property records.

The two-story house has a living room with a fireplace, a large kitchen, and rec room, "hand-selected fixtures from Europe," built-ins, and a "four season room" with retractable screens, lighted ceiling fans and "hand-picked tumbled tile floor," according to the listing.  "Stepping out to the exterior reveals extraordinary garden rooms resembling a British estate, as well as an outdoor kitchen entertaining area," the listing said.

Listing agent Ginny Stewart of Adams & Myers did not immediately respond to request for comment.
