A new listing in Sydney’s posh Point Piper neighborhood has joined the ranks of the city’s most expensive homes—priced at A$48 million (USD$36.364 million).

The trophy property belongs to Australian jazz percussionist Warren Daly of the 1970s duo Daly-Wilson Big Band. Mr. Daly and his wife, Karen Daly, the author of a best-selling health and fitness series "Fats & Figures" bought the property 20 years ago, said a source with knowledge of the house.

Thanks to Sydney’s burning hot real estate appreciation in recent years, the couple are now positioning themselves to make six times their purchase price of $7.75 million in 1997.

The five-bedroom, six-bathroom home is tucked back from the street and sits directly on Seven Shillings Beach. The house offers views of the iconic Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, according to the listing with Michael Pallier, managing director at Sydney Sotheby’s International Realty.

It comes with one of two historic Chinese-inspired timber "Pagoda" boathouses that sit in Sydney Harbour. The hut, inspired by Eastern design during the late Victorian period, reportedly offered refuge to a millionaire industrialist from Sydney who spent time in the one-room boathouse to get away from his wife.

Today, the historic boathouse provides deep-water mooring all year round in Sydney Harbour.

Award-winning architects Richard Christian and Walter Bard designed the main house with interiors by Michael Love and Thomas Hamel. The house almost disappears in a canopy of trees and other greenery, images of the property show.
