Movie producer Thomas Tull, who is also the founder of media company Legendary Entertainment and part-owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers football team, has just listed his $85 million, 33-acre estate in Thousand Oaks, California.
Mr. Tull, 47, and his wife, Alba, acquired the four parcels that comprise the compound over several years; the first three were bought in 2011, said listing broker Jordan Cohen, of RE/MAX. Mansion Global could not determine how much was paid in the transactions.
The parcels contained existing properties that were taken down “to the studs,” Mr. Cohen said, during the course of the three-year project. Once completely overhauled, they would become the main house and the guest house. Another was leveled to make room for the compound’s one-quarter-acre lake.
The main house was originally much smaller, Mr. Cohen said, adding that the entire property was reinvisioned. Now the house spans over 32,000 square feet and has a 5,000-square-foot master suite and a soundproof, Dolby-certified home theater with 20-foot-long screen.
Outside, the home’s main pool is accompanied by a pool house with spa facilities, like a Himalayan salt therapy room, an infrared sauna and a steam room. A second pool is found next to the compound’s 11,000-square-foot guest house.

The fourth parcel, which was acquired a few years later, Mr. Cohen said, made way for the home’s new farmhouse and five-acre organic working farm complete with a 15,000-square-foot greenhouse.
“In comparison to all of the $80-million-and-above properties in Los Angeles—and there are several—I believe this one stands out in regards to amenities, square footage, lot size, and quality,” Mr. Cohen said.
Mr. Tull—producer for blockbusters “The Dark Knight” “Godzilla” and “Jurassic World” —could not be reached for comment. He is reportedly selling the estate because he is relocating to the Pittsburgh area, said the Los Angeles Times, who first reported the listing.
