It’s no secret that San Francisco is a real estate success story, but one new report clearly illustrates how rapid the rise has been in the City by the Bay. Property portal Trulia recently tracked the number of million-dollar homes in San Francisco over a five-year period and found that, since 2010, the number of properties at or above this price point had more than doubled.

Amongst the largest metros, San Francisco metro has the highest share of million dollar homes in the country at 58%. And not surprisingly, the other two Bay Area metros rank #2 (San Jose) and #3 (Oakland). Within the city of San Francisco itself, more than 63% of homes are valued above the $1 million mark.

The graphic below, built by Trulia, shows the wildfire-like spread of million-dollar properties in San Francisco between January 2010 and July 2015.

For the purposes of the study, Trulia included every home in San Francisco valued at $1 million or more, regardless of whether the property was listed or not. Read the full reportView full listing (pictured top)
